Larissa Benedek Marching Instructor Larissa Benedek

Larissa Benedek’s diverse experience with the marching arts has its beginnings locally. She received a strong foundation from the CVUSD music programs at Aspen, Redwood, TOHS as well as dance training spanning ten years at the Retter’s Academy of Dance in Agoura Hills. She participated in the Ventura County Honor Band and was a member of the Pasadena City College Herald Trumpets; heralding the arrival of the Rose Queen in the 2001 and 2002 Rose Parades.

Larissa went on to double major in Arts Administration and Spanish at Simmons College in Boston, MA where she was fortunate enough to take advantage of Boston’s thriving arts culture in performance, internship, and educational capacities.

From 2004-2007, Larissa marched with the 9-time DCI Champions, The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps; including the 2005 Championship corps that swept all captions and tied the highest score in DCI history.

After spending a year in Budapest, Hungary as a scholarship student of cultural studies, Larissa spent four months performing in the Brass Angels “Odyssey” World Premier tour in Japan. There she performed alongside, and was inspired by, a cast of extremely talented women musician/dancer/vocalists as they connected with audiences throughout Japan.

She currently also works full time at an environmentally responsible LED manufacturing company based out of Simi Valley, CA. She is grateful for the opportunity to give back to local music programs like Westlake High School that have made such a profound impact on the lives of Conejo Valley youth.
