Deanna Hudgins Percussion Instructor

Deanna Hudgins began her musical studies at the age of seven as a piano student of Richard Beall. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance from California State University, Northridge under the tutelage of noted pedagogue Karen Ervin-Pershing, and did graduate work at The Boston Conservatory (MA) and Berklee College of Music, where she studied with Pat Hollenbeck, Keith Aleo, Sal Rabbio, and Nancy Zeltsman. She has performed in competition and exhibition at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). As a freelance musician in Los Angeles, she has appeared with such ensembles as the Bakersfield Symphony, the Burbank Philharmonic, inFLUX percussion quartet, and Masanga – L.A.’s only Zimbabwean marimba ensemble. In 2007, she was a soloist with the Valley College Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing, she has recorded several percussion pieces for publication.
